Task View’s new feature on Windows 10: this is how Timeline works

Last Monday, Microsoft launched the long-expected Windows 10 April 2018 Update for users that want to update their computers. This is an update that has interesting features, but Timeline is certainly one of the most popular. Today, we will show you how Timeline (Task View’s new feature on Windows 10) works on Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

In previous Windows 10 versions, the icon next to Cortana was Task View, which allowed us to create and manage Windows 10’s famous virtual desktops. However, if you got the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, you will be able to see how the icon changed. Even so, Task View is still the name that we see when we hover the mouse over the icon.

However, when we click the icon for the first time, we will see a window that lets us enable Timeline. The new feature on Windows 10 April 2018 Update basically gives us a visual way to see the history of programs that we have used and things that we have done on the system.

With Timeline, we will be able to see the programs that we have used, documents that we have created or modified, songs that we have listened to, videos that we have been played, etc. As we can see, it was named Timeline because everything we have done on the computer will be shown chronologically. On the top left of the history or of each block we will see the date, whereas on the right side we will see a scrollbar.

With the scrollbar, we can scroll up and down to any date on Timeline. On the top right, we will see a magnifying glass that allows us to search through Timeline. Of course, if we click on any element shown on Timeline, we will be taken directly to a web, document or app. This is certainly a quick way to go back to something that we were using or doing, and it also is an interactive and organized way to see everything that we have been doing on Windows 10.
